Also from The Independent: freedom of speech v people saying things because they think it will be controversial – I think Edwina was attempting a humorous equal rights speech in what can only be described as the most daft way! http://blogs.independent.co.uk/2012/08/30/controversial-paralympics-tweets-crossing-the-line-or-just-a-bit-of-fun/

New account win makes in three in a row

Tregartha Dinnie has won a major project for a global toy company, making the month of August a spectacular one, with no fewer then three new accounts added to the agency’s client roster.

The agency produced an innovative ‘hybrid’ solution to the company’s brief for a digital online catalogue, providing concepts for both interactive and download options within the budget, along with some pro-active new ideas such as a board game style event calendar for distributors.

Tregartha Dinnie was originally asked to present for printed catalogue work, in which it has established a specialist reputation with work for the likes of Tesco, Argos and MandmDirect, and the invitation to pitch was a result of this speculative meeting.

Agency Managing Director Lester Dinnie commented “This account is a global blue-chip brand which we are very proud to be working for – it’s a real bonus for the agency team that the product range consists of toys and games. We are all reverting to our childhood in anticipation!”

Apple’s dominance – what does it mean though for those of us not interested in the fruit symbol? What do we really care or should we care more? http://bit.ly/P9AMId

Does intergrating digital technology change the state of play

When the digital revolution (whose end is not yet in sight) takes on a persona within everything we do, read, write, see and talk, can we envisage what the next revolution may be?

Does digital technology change how journalism and media is communicated to the masses, is it the same message just explained with better visuals or is it better explained becasue it can reach those masses further then it has before?

Really interesting article here if you'd like to share: http://bit.ly/QVtSFC

Does the blockbuster no longer have the appeal at Blockbuster?

Ok, so we've all joined one or a few of the latest download/subscription, DVD straight to your door/computer companies: Netflix, Lovefilm... and they all work... to a degree.

Do video/DVD hire companies no longer have the match on these online businesses now?

Should it matter that we seem not that bothered about ourhigh street, late night browsing opportunities, POS popcorn and instead anything straight to the door or direct to our TVs means an easier life?

And is it a sign that technology has caught up and this will be the future, forever...

A few colours of predictability…

Ok, so we have a few ladies in the office who have been enticed and overwhelmed by flipping the pages (or sliding the screen) of the latest book crazy, ‘fifty shades of whatsit’.

But some have become a little bored by its predictability.

So is this a book of the ages, has overrun the Mills and Boon literature of romance, or is it nothing more than a predictable mass-market read for bored housewives and those who love fads?

Or is it just luck – an author who actually fell into the literary pool of writing slush, basic character development and creating nice names and who just wanted to write a book?

It’s no Anna Karenina or Jane Austen bundle, but it obviously had something gripping.

So what makes a good book great? And is ‘50 shades’ the latest equivalent of a viral video, hot off the bookshelves and into our laps, with a cuppa on the side table, late at night, so when we awake we can have a ‘water cooler’ moment…?
